Joni states “I can think of no higher calling than in guiding and participating in the healing of individuals, couple’s and families….”Joni’s great loves include family, travel, volunteering, hiking and hearing the sound of people laughing!"
Joni Villemez-Comeaux, M.A., LPC, LCDC
Joni specializes in, and is most passionate about bringing awareness to and healing the underlying foundation of all manifestations of disordered eating, as well as other addictions, to include drugs and alcohol. Joni is skilled in serving those in the process of grief, be it through a death or the shifting of life circumstances. Joni, through her own experiences, personal recovery and education, has garnered the ability to guide clients to a stronger sense of Self by creating a sacred environment in which to explore. This sacred space of exploration allows for squeezing the learning out of painful life experiences for the purpose of moving on, letting go and regaining personal freedom, resiliency and empowerment. She also loves to be of service to those who struggle with anxiety, depression, co-dependency and unresolved trauma.
Shannon Stringer, LMFT Associate, LCDC
Shannon transitioned from the medical field after finding out that her passion was helping families deal with devastating medical diagnoses. She began her trek toward becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor soon after. She obtained her BS in Psychology from University of Houston in 2015 and went into obtaining her MS in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2018. During her graduate program, she did her practicum at a local non-profit agency where her love of collaborative language therapies grew.
She also did her internship at a chemical dependency rehabilitation facility where she exclusively worked with families in the middle of dealing with the disease of addiction. Her compassion, knowledge and personality has helped families travel along this path.
She has also worked with helping others heal from the trauma, loss and grief that sometimes accompanies life. Her passion is to continue to help others move past those issues that keep us from moving forward. There is nothing too big or to small that we cannot learn about and move on from.
Her philosophy is that we all have strengths. Shannon will collaborate with you to find these strengths and find solutions to those antiquated patterns. Shannon feels that “together we can create a safe, confidential, uplifting environment in which to heal, learn and grow.”
